Three members honored at tea at Chandor Gardens

The organization's “Celebration of Women Week” culminated with a tea honoring members at Chandor Gardens on Friday, March 11, 2011. It was especially nice because it was a mild sunny day and attendees were able to enjoy the event outside in the garden.

The highlight of the tea revolved around two awards, Woman of the Year and The Marjorie Roach Award. Woman of the Year is elected by secret ballot of the entire membership. Two members, Sue Coleman and Carla Kerr, made a photo finish for this honor. In the history of the organization this occurred one other time, in 2003. The recipient of the Marjorie Roach Award is elected by the PCWNC Board. Joan Shaw was this year's recipient.

Commissioners Court proclaims Parker County Women’s and Newcomers’ Week

At its regular meeting on Monday, February 28, 2011, the Parker County Commissioners Court proclaimed the week of March 7-11, 2011 “Parker County Women’s and Newcomers’ Week”. The designation, recognizing Parker County Women’s and Newcomers’ Club, parallels  “Celebration of Women Week”, during which the organization will host numerous special social activities. Three  members of the board of the organization, Carla Kerr, Dale Burns, and Joan Shaw, were present, and Carla made a presentation to the Court regarding the organization and its special activities for the week.
